The Tokyo trading session is considered to be the largest Asia Forex trading session. The Tokyo session is the first market to open and is often used by large participants to develop strategies and determine market conditions for the day. The net volume traded in the Tokyo session is smaller than the volumes of the London and New York sessions, but it is still a very liquid session with $210 billion changing hands per day, the session is often used by large investment banks and hedge funds.

The most active time in the Tokyo trading session is generally when it overlaps with the Europe trading session between 2am – 5am (EST).
